In support of our respective collecting habits, we took a couple of days off this past week and spent them at the Brimfield Antique Show. Crazy. We walked for about 10 hours straight for two days and did not see even half of what was there.
Somewhere on the web site I read the assertion that if you can't find it (where "it" is an antique or vintage item) at Brimfield, you should resign yourself to living without it. And when I noticed that a booth had vintage Christmas items, I remembered my favorite ornament from when I was a kid. Because it was my favorite, every year I got to be the one to hang it on the tree. But at some point when I wasn't looking, it got broken.
So I thought, hey, maybe I could get one of those ornaments. I walked toward the booth, and before I even got very close, I could see it, in a box on the ground, sort of hanging out of the seller's tent, asking to be broken by someone's foot. But not this time! I rescued it for $2.00!
